Our Assessments team has a simple mission: help candidates get the right job. We help candidates demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities using job assessments — we're trying to make the resume a thing of the past.
While there’s lots of engineering wizardry that make our assessments work for 200 million job seekers around the world, at the core of what we build is the assessment content itself — the questions, images, spreadsheets, videos, audio clips that candidates interact with. Taking an assessment from a concept like, “We should have an assessment for home health aids” to a real question like, “Please listen to this patient describing their symptoms and decide what to do next…” is the most important thing we do.
Our Assessment Designer will develop these assessments used to screen applicants for jobs. This is a highly analytical role that will require you to think deeply about a multitude of subjects. Your job will involve scoping assessment topics, interviewing Subject Matter Experts, and designing assessments that look and feel realistic to candidates. This position is ideal for someone who loves the detailed analysis required for good assessment creation and requires curiosity to learn about many different jobs.
The Assessment Designer position can be located in any of Indeed's offices or the incumbent can work remotely.
Day to day you will:
Work alongside our product team to identify assessment topics needed
Research the job for which you are creating an assessment, including hiring and interviewing Subject Matter Experts
Write and rewrite assessment questions that align with specific knowledge, skills, and abilities
Work with our team of designers to commission graphics and other media to bring your assessment to life
Participate in continuous improvement of our assessment library
In a day, you could be working on an assessment in nursing, word processing, and warehouse safety all at once. We create assessments for a wide variety of jobs and work on many topics at a time.
- You have 3+ years of professional experience working in instructional or curriculum design, I/O Psychology, or a related field.
- You have hands-on experience creating assessments.
- You have a Masters degree in Instructional Design, I/O Psychology, Education or a related field (preferred).
- You are passionate about creating assessment content that is practical and helpful for job seekers.
- You move fast, are able to change directions quickly, and can manage a pace of 5+ assessments being developed simultaneously.
- You are naturally curious and excited to learn about what's needed to do many different jobs.
- You have the ability to handle ambiguity and controlled chaos (strong project management skills are a must!)
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
