The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentive Plan units, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
San Francisco Bay Area Base Salary Range: 175,000 - 225,000USD per year
Brand Systems is an interdisciplinary mix of interaction, visual designers, animators, strategists and copywriters focused on building the core brand identity across our product experience. As part of this talented team, the Content Strategy Manager will be leading our writing team to build the foundation of our content experience and brand narrative expression as part of the next evolution for Indeed. This role will be working alongside our Creative Director to drive Indeed’s first comprehensive brand initiative and defining the core creative identity throughout the product experience.
You will collaborate across various teams (UX, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Communications and Operations) and advocate for the value of content excellence to establish a cohesive voice across products that ties into our overall brand narrative. You’ll also be working alongside our editorial staff to lead the vision for our design publication, Indeed.Design, which shares the stories of all the amazing design initiatives taking place within the company.
This is a creative leadership role focused on bringing foundational standards for content and brand to life in our products, managing a high-performing team of content strategists, editors and copywriters. And most importantly, you’ll drive team performance and impact, providing opportunities for your team to grow and develop the skills they need to pursue their career goals.

Manage a talented group of product content strategists, copywriters, editors, and freelance writers under the Brand Systems team
Lead a team of talented of writers and content strategists under the UX organization to define the quality of written content and establish brand voice/tone across the product experience
Build the foundational brand narrative of our content experience alongside our cross-functional peers in UX, Product and Marketing, establishing guidance and core principles to drive consistency across the company.
Inspire a network of content strategists and writers globally and build a unified culture around creative and strategic content creation at Indeed.
Promote design-centric content strategy and thought leadership internally throughout the company and externally through content communities.
Proactively partner with both product and marketing teams to ensure our voice and narrative is consistent across multiple touchpoints
Execute on a 6 month, 1 year and 2 year vision for a content strategy that connects job seekers with employers through a cohesive narrative and consistent voice that expresses Indeed’s brand identity.
Identify opportunities and create standards for expressing our brand through content in both functional and expressive moments in the user journey, including UI microcopy, landing pages, emails, blogs, etc.
Partner with Marketing, Product and User Research to make decisions guided by the needs of our users and designed to enhance the the end-to-end content experience
Use quantitative studies to understand business impact and measure progress.
Lead the next evolution of our UX publication, Indeed.Design, establishing us a thought leader in the UX/Design industry and share our brand story
Craft a year-long vision for a publication strategy for our Indeed.Design publication with our editors, copywriters and designers.
Develop streamlined editorial process for researching new stories, identifying relevant subjects, building cultural relationships across all of our global UX/Design offices (AUS, SFO, TOK), and ensuring alignment with Marketing, Legal, and other internal stakeholders.
Create promotion plan for the publication through social media outlets, outside publications, hosted events, external speaking engagements
Elevate the quality and craft of our content strategists and copywriters to create an inspiring environment and delivery of timely projects
Support and guide product teams in the development of content strategy through collaboration on projects, workshop, training and/or office hours
Collaborate with our Design Program Manager and Creative Director on project priorities and develop high-level quarterly OKRs for the team
Drive weekly writing workshops with writing team to focus on building craft, mentoring through 1:1s and up-leveling the overall quality of our writing in brainstorm discussions with designers
Focus on development for writing team and identify workshops, conferences, training, etc. to enhance the craft of their work and establish a network of peers
You’ll have experience with global brands and/or world-class agencies:
5+ years leading marketing and/or product-specific content teams
5+ years practicing content strategy in multiple areas (brand, product, editorial)
Experience in process-driven tools and/or workflows that accelerate productivity
Proven ability to drive consensus and collaborate successfully with senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners in a fast-paced environment
Passion for Indeed’s mission to help people get jobs
Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, Graphic Design, or a related design or behavioral science discipline.
