Our designers work in Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, Tokyo and Hyderabad, collaborating with Product Managers and Engineering to deliver simple solutions to the real-world problems that job seekers and employers face hiring and getting hired. Most importantly, our team is expected to deliver results, and be able to demonstrate the impact our changes have on our business.

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentive Plan units, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.

We are looking for a user experience leader for our Candidate Management team.

The Candidate Management team aims to reduce the time and effort for SMBs to make a hire. Getting the word out about a job is only the beginning. Once people start applying for a role, employers need to quickly identify and communicate with qualified candidates, and they need to stay organized throughout the hiring process. The Candidate Management team aims to provide SMBs with the tools and information that they need to streamline this process so that all parties have the best experience possible.  We are looking for a UX Leader to help us shape and realize this goal.

The Indeed UX Team is an interdisciplinary team of interaction, visual and brand designers, writers, researchers, and design technologists. As the User Experience Director, you will lead an interdisciplinary team that is focused on creating simple and innovative solutions for employers from small and medium businesses who are juggling hiring alongside running their business.  Small and medium businesses power our economy. You and your team will help small and medium businesses to grow by making it simple and intuitive to meet their hiring needs with Indeed.  

Your strategic impact within your first year.

  • Lead Candidate Experience UX

    • Mentor and inspire the team to create world-class hiring experiences for small and medium businesses. 

    • Effectively grow the team to keep pace with business needs. 

    • Communicate the business value of UX to stakeholders.

    • Work collaboratively across the larger UX organization to create tools, frameworks, and guides that product teams will use to create cohesive product experiences. 

  • Strategize and lead the refinement of the visions for current SMB experiences

    • Ship improvements that enhance the hiring experience for small and medium-sized businesses.

    • Through research, keep the voice of the customer at the forefront with a regular cadence of qualitative studies.

    • Foster collaboration across a variety of disciplines, including engineering, product management, design technology, UX research, content strategy, and product science.

    • Collaborate effectively with neighboring internal product teams to identify and build on touchpoints that support users.

  • Envision future products and services

    • Lead your team as they design and validate solutions to real customer problems.

    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional product leadership team members to help inform future roadmaps and turn vision into reality.

About you.

About you.

Our ideal candidate has: 

  • 7+ years of product design experience with an accompanying portfolio.

  • 5+ years of shipping product experiences.

  • 4+ years of product design management and leadership.

  • Experience with planning a long-term strategy 

  • Experience working with both generative and evaluative UX research.

  • Outstanding mentor and listener. 

  • Ability to collaborate flawlessly with multiple teams, including Design, Product, Engineering, and Marketing.

  • Bachelor Degree Required, a degree in Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, Graphic Design, or a related design or behavioral science discipline, or equivalent experience.
