We are looking for a world-class researcher who is equally adept with quantitative and qualitative methods and knows how to balance solid research and business needs. As Director of User Experience Research, you will bridge the worlds of qualitative and quantitative research in order to bring a rich and in-depth understanding of our users and their behavior and attitudes to leadership and product development teams.
Some of the ways you will support the team
Lead a team of qualitative researchers, quantitative researchers, and a research manager who are creating actionable insights to inform product development and improve user experience
Drive both strategic and tactical research, that considers business objectives, for both near-term deliverables and longer-term vision/roadmaps.
Foster an environment where researchers can grow their capabilities and do their best work. Ensure the right team members are deployed to the right problems to get the best results.
Be a thought leader on how to use quantitative and qualitative data to inform the product experience with cross-functional leadership
Define and develop quantitative UX metrics and methods
Build strong cross-functional relationships that foster effective collaboration across UX, product management, engineering, marketing, product science, and data science.
Evangelize research practices and user-centered design across the company.
10+ years of experience in an applied research setting
MS or Ph.D. in a human behavior related field (Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Social Science, Statistics, Behavioral or Microeconomics or other related fields)
Track record of discovering, synthesizing, and socializing actionable insights that have influenced real product decisions
Strong experimental design and/or A/B testing skills; you understand how to plan, execute, and analyze experiments in a statistically rigorous way
Able to determine and execute the right research method for the question at hand, including when to use qualitative research methods
Experience with applied statistical analysis, data extraction (SQL), and scripting languages (Python, Lingo)
Excellent grasp of best practices in data visualization to influence decision-making
Familiar with survey design and analysis; familiarity with analysis of eye-tracking data is a plus
Excellent communication, negotiation and collaboration skills
