The Indeed Hiring Lab is an international team of economists, other researchers and editorial staff, whose insights help drive the global labour market conversation. The team sits within Indeed’s marketing organisation.
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentive Plan units, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
London Base Salary Range: 54,000 - 74,000 GBP per year
The UK Economist will join our global Hiring Lab team and will work to discover interesting and important insights in the massive amount of data we have on job search and hiring. You’ll conduct research and analysis on UK and Irish labour market trends and communicate your findings in a compelling way to a variety of audiences, in coordination with our editorial, PR and marketing teams. This exciting role lies at the heart of Indeed’s mission to help jobseekers and employers navigate the ever-changing labour market.
Conceive, research and write data-driven blog posts about the labour market using Indeed’s proprietary data and publicly available data.
Serve as Indeed’s spokesperson on UK and Irish labour markets for media and public engagements.
Develop and deliver presentations on the labour market at Indeed’s events for clients and client-facing staff.
Work with EMEA colleagues on cross-European research projects.
- Five+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Master’s or PhD in economics or a related field, or a truly extraordinary undergraduate record.
- Success at writing and presenting economic research to non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of UK labour market and familiarity with publicly available labour-market data.
- Solid understanding of labour market theories, empirical approaches and statistical concepts.
- Fluency in SQL, R, Python, Stata or similar data management and analysis tools.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Experience working in tech, finance, media or other fast-paced work environment preferred.
- Strong data visualisation skills preferred.
