Engineering Manager - Open Source Software
We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join our growing Open Source Program at Indeed. In this role, you will provide hands-on leadership for a full-stack development team building and enhancing our open source software projects, such as Proctor and Imhotep. You will ensure that these projects provide growing value in the open source community, while also helping to spread open source principles throughout Indeed’s engineering organization.

You have led fully distributed engineering teams and earned the respect of talented software developers. You are equally happy talking algorithms and data structures as you are brainstorming about agile development process and technology career development. You want to be in the mix technically while providing leadership to your teams.
As Engineering Manager for Open Source Software at Indeed, you would be part of a rapidly growing and highly capable engineering organization responsible for building the most popular job site on the planet. With engineering hubs in Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, Tokyo, Singapore, and Hyderabad, we are improving people's lives all around the world, one job at a time.
BS in Computer Science or related area, or relevant work experience
10+ years of experience managing large-scale software development
2+ years prior success as an Engineering Manager (3+ direct reports) working on challenging problems
Experience growing and developing distributed engineering teams
An understanding of what it means to be a meaningful contributor to the open source community
5+ years experience with at least one of the following languages: Java, C++, Python, C#
5+ years experience working with databases, both SQL and NoSQL
Solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms and excellent programming skillsso
The ability to guide a team to achieve important goals together
Strong ability to coach developers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers
