The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentive Plan units, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits. 

Austin Base Salary Range: 93,000 - 123,000 USD per year

Your job.

The HR Technology Team at Indeed is responsible for supporting Workday HCM. Our team works directly with various stakeholders to troubleshoot system issues as well as develop enhancements and new features.  Most importantly, we act as a strategic partner developing solutions to automate and simplify processes for our business partners.

This position will serve as the functional development lead for both Workday Payroll and Benefits configuration for the United States and Canada.  This person will also partner with our integrations and regional business leaders outside of the United States and Canada to provide Workday data to external vendors whose data are not calculated or tracked in Workday.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the development strategy of Workday Payroll & Benefits

  • Troubleshoot, develop, document, and test solutions for production defects and enhancements

  • Partner with our integrations team and global payroll partners to implement new payroll vendors

  • Analyze the current setup and present recommendations to optimize

  • Lead Year-End planning and execution

  • Lead Open Enrollment development for the United States and Canada

  • Maintain proper change management documentation to satisfy the company’s internal/external audit controls

  • Review integration event issues and coordinate with our integrations team to solution

  • Consult with business and technical teams about interface design and maintenance; collaborate with other architects and technical leads on design decisions.

  • Stay informed of new functionality available in Workday and drive the deployment of feature releases.

About you.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of Workday Payroll (US & Canada)

  • Basic knowledge of state and federal tax withholding rules and how the wages and taxes feed to the quarterly payroll tax returns

  • Intermediate knowledge of Workday Benefits

  • Basic knowledge of Workday HCM configuration and business processes

  • Basic knowledge of Workday Absence Management & Time Tracking

  • Intermediate knowledge of developing Workday Advanced reports

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Experience supporting payroll for a global company

  • A basic understanding of integration systems and related security

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members and leadership

  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle both planned and unplanned responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment


  • 2+ years of experience of Workday Payroll development

  • 1+ years of experience of Workday Benefits development
