Indeed is looking to hire an exceptional product-focused engineering leader who can operate in a fast
paced environment delivering business results quickly working directly with the GM of SMB business driving international engineering. This person will drive a range of engineering initiatives focused on helping millions of customers make the best possible hires.
As a Vice President of Engineering, you will be jointly responsible for helping drive the SMB P&L, which is a significant revenue driver for a $2.5bn+ global business, by working with the GM of the SMB business. You will be responsible for continuing to grow the business at a healthy trajectory while balancing the need to find efficiencies across the organization. All business and technical leaders at Indeed, especially Directors and above in product and engineering, are analytical, creative, and collaborative. We obsess over data and drive for simplicity. A successful technical leader will lead through data and insights, obsess about customer outcomes in every decision she/he makes and lead by developing the trust and respect of teammates. As one of the most senior Engineering leaders at Indeed, you will shape how we continue to transform the global recruitment industry.
A few examples of what you will drive as part of this critical role:
Engineering vision and strategy - Be responsible for working with multiple C-level and SVP level stakeholders in creating a clear, convincing technical strategy for Indeed outside of North America
Collaboration and OKR management across the international organization - Be responsible for collaborating with Sales, CS, Marketing and Finance to align on annual OKRs and shorter-term execution plans
Business Execution - Be responsible for a significantly large P&L delivery (revenue, cost) along with key OKRs for the business. Have a strong x-functional understanding of drivers and levers of business to hit targets
Technical Execution - Be responsible for scaling and building our products globally across multiple markets - Serving 100’s of Millions of Job Seekers and Millions of Employers
People Management and leadership - Manage significant sized engineering teams (hundreds of people globally distributed) and inspire leaders to deliver against aggressive OKRs
Ongoing technical reviews - Drive ongoing monthly product and technology reviews in conjunction with the Product Leader with C-level stakeholders and drive board-level strategic discussions
M&A and partnerships - work on understanding opportunities for M&A and partnership in International markets and appropriately drive alignment with the relevant internal stakeholders (C-level, Corpdev)

Served as VP Engineering and/or Chief Technology Officer(or equivalent scope) of a B2B or B2C business that experienced substantial growth, managing at least 100 engineers
15+ years of progressive experience in engineering or related discipline in the technology sector
10+ years of managing technology teams and growing leaders - managed at least 2 layers of management and team sizes of at least 50+ people
Experience working with distributed global teams
Experience working in multiple products that have been used by 10’s of millions of global users required
Built and shipped at least one world-class mobile experience
Led teams and organizations through aggressive goals with the ability to hit those goals
Hands-on experience and a tenured leadership foundation in planning & process, product and/or financial planning, organizational change, communications & strategy execution
Global or International experience highly desired, preferably outside of North America (International growth is critical to our future and someone who understands business globally is preferable)
Able to make data-driven decisions effectively and efficiently
Able to identify and prioritize strategic initiatives and opportunities
Communicate well and influence colleagues and executives
Demonstrate technical leadership and gain respect across other engineering teams at Indeed
Experience with and/or comfort with dotted-line reporting structures / influencing roles
Proven ability to deliver products that suppport a large scale of users (millions of UVs and customers), including familiarity with microservices and queues
Make people around you more effective and productive
Demonstrate attention to detail
Build, grow, and manage a significant sized team of Engineers and other technical resources + help them meet and exceed all the expectations listed above
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Engineering or Computer Science
