The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentives, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits. 

Remote Americas Base Salary Range: 138,000 - 174,000 USD per year

Your job.

You will lead distributed teams to develop and transform software systems and tools aligned with the day-to-day and future needs of Indeed’s engineers, product managers, quality assurance professionals, and businesses. You’ll coach the skills and capabilities of your teams, and you’ll help ensure a high talent bar when hiring for growth. You will operate and support the services that you own, working directly with internal customers. About you.

You live the value that the best managers serve their teams, removing roadblocks and giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership.  You deliver solutions to challenging technical problems. You lead engineering teams and earn the respect of talented software developers.  You are equally happy talking algorithms and data structures as you are brainstorming about the Agile development process or how to bring out the best in people.  You stay in the mix technically while providing leadership to your teams.  You evidence these qualities through examples and data.

 

Requirements:

 

  • 2+ years experience directly coaching and managing individual contributors

  • 1+ years experience managing an internally-facing CI/CD, SDK, or SDLC tools team

  • Significant prior success as a Software Manager coaching developers to improve their skills and grow their careers

  • Significant prior success as a Software Manager or Engineer collaborating across teams to solve challenging technical and logistical problems

  • Significant prior success as a Software Manager or Engineer establishing and meeting SLOs

  • Significant prior success as a Software Manager or Engineer shipping code rapidly and learning / iterating on results

  • Demonstrably excellent programming skills and knowledge of data structures and algorithms

  • Experience building high-performance distributed service-oriented and event-driven system architectures

  • BS or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)

  • 3+ years of professional experience with some or all of the following technologies a plus: Java, Python, Docker, Jenkins, Gradle, Git, REST, JSON, MySQL, Envoy, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Linux Environments
