The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentives, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits. 

Austin Area Base Salary Range: 138,000 - 174,000 USD per year

Your job.

The Job Seeker Segmentation is seeking a software engineering manager to lead the initiatives to develop unique and valuable web-based job search experiences for the job seekers within both the core Job Search product and vertical specific Job Search sites. 

You will have the opportunity to lead the team that builds new products and develops new experiences within our primary web application that is used by 200+ million unique visitors every month.  You will work closely with the product and segment managers to better understand how we can leverage the knowledge they’ve gained through interviews and research to build new capabilities and modify existing features to improve the job seeker search experience.

You understand that the best managers serve their teams, while removing roadblocks and giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership.  You have delivered challenging technical solutions.  You have led engineering teams and earned the respect of talented software developers.  You are as excited about  discussing algorithms and data structures as you are about brainstorming about the Agile development process and career development of the engineers on your team.  You want to be in the mix technically while providing leadership to your teams.  As our engineering organization grows, you will help ensure we keep the talent bar high and grow the skills and capabilities of your team.

  • Experience managing a high-performing engineering team

  • Strong ability to coach developers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers

  • Solid communication and people skills 

  • Significant prior success as a Software Engineer working on challenging problems

  • A deep understanding of the web

  • Experience with service-oriented architectures, APIs and A/B testing

  • An understanding of the value derived from shipping code rapidly

  • Experience developing web applications with a modern Javascript framework; React is a plus

  • Experience with full-stack application development is a plus

  • BS or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
