The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentives, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits. 

Washington DC Area Base Salary Range: 60,000 - 78,000 USD per year

Your job.

The Indeed Hiring Lab is a global team of economists, researchers, and writers whose insights help drive the global labor market conversation. The Hiring Lab produces short-form research on job-market topics using Indeed’s proprietary data and publicly available data; our research is published on the Indeed blog and other media sites. Our primary audiences are journalists, policymakers, and researchers, as well as employers and job-seekers.
The Research Associate will join our global Hiring Lab team and will work to discover interesting and important insights in the massive amount of data we have on job search and hiring. You’ll work with our research heads and the rest of our Hiring Lab team to conduct research and analysis and communicate your findings in a compelling way. You’ll relish deep dives into economic data and finding new insights that help job seekers and employers navigate the ever-evolving labor market. You’ll also help maintain key data resources and build new research tools to help accelerate Hiring Lab’s research.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of analyses, blog posts, and other materials for the Indeed Hiring Lab
  • Work with Indeed’s economic experts to develop newsworthy ideas and support them with research and data analysis
  • Assemble data sets from both Indeed data and other sources and analyze them using statistical programming languages such as R, Python, and STATA
  • Help maintain large databases used for economic research
  • Help prepare charts, tables, and graphics for Hiring Lab blog posts and presentations.
  • Assist others with research projects: compiling literature reviews and archival research and handling data assembly and analysis
  • Write and proofread articles under the oversight of senior staff members

About you.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics or related field required; Master’s strongly preferred
  • A solid understanding of statistics, economics, and statistical programming
  • Experience with data access and manipulation tools such as R, Python, SQL, and Google Cloud
  • Experience with Git or other version control tools, strongly preferred
  • Background in maintaining large databases
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English 
  • Attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work cooperatively in a team environment
