About SMB UX
The SMB team at Indeed specializes in helping small and medium businesses hire quality talent quickly. We are a passionate, diverse, and growing team aiming to deliver an effortless experience to our employers so they can find the right fit fast.
We are looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher who is versed in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Candidates should have strong skills in behavioral data analysis, experiment design, survey research, statistical analysis, and human-computer interaction in addition to qualitative competencies such as interviewing and analysis. You will collaborate with cross-functional team members to define and prioritize research and to develop UX metrics. You will design and conduct empirical research, and you will code, clean, visualize and analyze Indeed’s vast stores of data using statistical methods in order to understand and extract meaningful patterns of user behavior. Your research will generate user experience insights that will move our products forward.
So what would you be doing?
Indeed helps people find jobs. We are best known for our job search (www.indeed.com), but we do other things related to jobs and hiring, too.
Some of the ways you may support the team include:
Validate new designs through ad-hoc or formalized user feedback sessions with internal users or customers.
Plan and carry out interviews, surveys, and statistical analyses to inform future product work.
Build relationships with key stakeholders and clients to gain deeper insights.
Establish and manage relationships with research-related vendors.
Conduct research activities as needed to support your particular product area.
Collaborate with other researchers, product managers, and UX designers to ensure research translates into business impact.
Triangulate quantitative and qualitative data to provide deep product context.
Mentor and coach quantitative UX researchers on the team.
The ideal candidate will take the initiative to introduce impactful user research to product teams.
5+ years conducting applied user research for software/web-based products with stories to share
MS or PhD in a human behavior-related field (Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Social Science, Statistics, Behavioral or Micro-economics or other related field)
Flexible approach to research: Our goal is to provide product teams value. Determine and execute the right research method for the question at hand. If an existing research method doesn’t do that, we invent our own research method
Strong experimental design and/or A/B testing skills; you understand how to plan, execute, and analyze experiments in a statistically rigorous way
Familiar with Python or R. Familiarity with SQL is a plus.
Familiar with survey design and analysis; familiarity with analysis of eye-tracking data is a plus
Competent in qualitative methodologies such as usability testing, contextual inquiry, and interviewing.
Able to quickly share research results with teams (top line results in hours, not days or weeks)
Able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and act as a strategic partner in product decisions
