About SMB UX
The SMB team at Indeed specializes in helping small and medium businesses hire quality talent quickly. We are a passionate, diverse, and growing team aiming to deliver an effortless experience to our employers so they can find the right fit fast.
We are looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher with a background in applied qualitative research. Candidates should have strong skills in qualitative competencies such as interviewing, synthesis, and analysis, as well as knowledge of survey design and basic quantitative methodologies.
You will collaborate with cross-functional team members to define and prioritize research and to develop UX metrics. Your research will generate user experience insights that will move our products forward and add value to both the business and the user.
So what would you be doing?
Indeed helps people find jobs. We are best known for our job search (www.indeed.com), but we do other things related to jobs and hiring, too.
You'd be working with other members of the SMB UX team and partnering with our Product and Engineering teams in Austin, Seattle, and Tokyo, validating new ideas and helping teams answer their questions through generative and evaluative qualitative research.
Some of the ways you may support the team include:
Validate new designs through ad-hoc or formalized user feedback sessions with internal users or customers.
Plan and carry out interviews and surveys to inform future product work.
Build relationships with key stakeholders and clients to gain deeper insights.
Establish and manage relationships with research-related vendors.
Conduct research activities as needed to support your particular product area.
Collaborate with other researchers, product managers, and UX designers to ensure research translates into business impact.
Mentor and coach UX researchers on the team and across Indeed.
Ideal candidate will take the initiative to introduce impactful user research to product teams.
- 6+ years conducting user research for software/web-based products with stories to share
- Bachelor's, MS or Ph.D. in a human behavior related field (Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Social Science, Statistics, Behavioral or Microeconomics or other related fields)
- Ability to quickly share research results with teams (top line results in hours, not weeks)
Flexible approach to research: Our goal is to provide product teams value. Determine and execute the right research method for the question at hand. If an existing research method doesn’t do that, we invent our own research method
Ability to perform all research-related tasks in the research project lifecycle: Create a test plan, write a screener, recruit users, schedule users, moderate test, create video clip highlights, top line results, create research findings summary, and effectively present and share results
Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and act as a strategic partner in product decisions
Experience with remote testing tools and best practices
An appetite for creative problem solving with a positive attitude
