We are a rapidly growing and highly capable engineering team building the most popular job site on the planet. With engineering hubs in Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, Tokyo and Hyderabad, we are improving people's lives all around the world, one job at a time.

Your job.

In this role, you will help Indeed become a leader in the open source community. You will contribute to various open source projects, create internal tooling, and coach other Indeedians on open source practices. Open source software is threaded through our entire stack, from top to bottom, so you will face new challenges and opportunities every week. Every member of our small, highly-talented team is in a position to have a tremendous impact throughout Indeed, and beyond.

You will:

  • Work closely with developers across Indeed, helping them implement open source best practices

  • Contribute to Indeed’s open source projects, and to other open source projects that Indeed uses

  • Create and maintain tooling for the open source program

  • Be a champion for open source, both inside and outside the company

The Open Source team is highly distributed geographically, so this position is open to remote candidates in most of the US and Canada. We will also consider candidates who want to work in one of our offices, in Seattle, Austin or San Francisco.

About you.

  • Professional and/or open source software development experience with modern languages (e.g. Java, Python, Go, etc.)

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

  • Ability to work productively on a remote/distributed team

  • Demonstrated ability to manage timelines and deliverables

We get excited about candidates who:

  • Feel energized when teaching, coaching, consulting, mentoring, etc.

  • Are enthusiastic about open source, especially when it comes to welcoming new contributors

  • Thrive on working with a variety of projects, languages, and technologies

  • Love to continuously learn and develop new skills

  • Bring new dimensions to our team

  • Bring a strong sense of ownership to their work

  • Have experience working on large scale applications

  • Are comfortable with core CS fundamentals (e.g. algorithms and data structures)
