Your job.

As the product leader of data products, platform and infrastructure you will focus on the most important part of Indeed’s business; data! You will be responsible for effectively and efficiently managing more than petabytes of data every day. You will be also responsible for building a coherent data strategy that enables Indeed to scale far beyond its current capabilities. You will work closely with every function at Indeed to drive our data product and platform initiatives.

The atomic unit of product development at Indeed is a small, nimble, independent team - you will enable these teams (your customers) to operate at Indeed’s global scale while maintaining high velocity and a focus on delivering value to job seekers and employees.

You will manage multiple Product Managers who extend your vision and influence. You will be responsible for growing the Product Management team through great hiring and mentoring as you expand Indeed’s product and technical capabilities. You and your team, not the CEO, will decide how to grow your products and capabilities to further the company goals of helping people find jobs and growing revenue.

Senior Product Directors at Indeed are analytical, creative, and collaborative. We obsess over data and drive for simplicity. You will guide the team by exemplifying these core values.

Sr. Product Directors have the responsibility to deliver results, but no authority over peers in Engineering and Design. A successful Sr. Product Director leads by developing the trust and respect of teammates. You will foster a culture of data and collaboration across Indeed offices around the world. As a Sr. Product Director, you will develop programs and tools that carry the Indeed mission forward as you help Indeed grow at a phenomenal pace.

You will be responsible for products and strategy that significantly impact the entire company. You will be empowered to set ambitious goals for your products. Your goals will not be easy to achieve; they should inspire and motivate the team to think big. The goals should be simple to understand, few in number, and clearly communicated so your team and the rest of the company understand what we are doing, why we do it, and where we're headed.

You will sit with your product development teams, and work closely with them on a daily basis. You will define requirements, measure KPIs, and track experiments with their input. You will do data analysis, whether it’s running queries in MySQL, searching through logs, or using the plethora of in-house tools specially built for the colossal amount of data Indeed gathers (see: Most importantly, you will guide other Product Managers to do these tasks effectively, so you can magnify your impact manyfold.

You will create hypotheses for creating a new product or improving a product, test them, and learn from the results (see: Our product development philosophy is similar to the Lean Startup philosophy. You will create Minimal Viable Products (MVPs), prototypes of new products, and simple tests to validate ideas and iterate.

You will enjoy a casual work environment, flexible hours, and great compensation and benefits. There is a complete lack of office politics; if that is your specialty, look elsewhere.

You will wear many hats and constantly learn new things on the job. You will be surrounded by smart, dedicated, nice people. You will be proud of the company’s mission and your products' impact.

On your first day, we will give you a t-shirt that says, "I help people get jobs." Soon after, you will be wearing your shirt at the grocery store and someone will come up and say, "I love Indeed! I found my job on Indeed. Thank you!" You will smile for the rest of the day. This will happen a lot.

On a day-to-day basis, your and your organization’s core activities will touch the areas below:

  • Data Infrastructure: Managing Indeed’s global data infrastructure. This will include deep partnership with the Engineering organization and will require an in-depth understanding of the tools and services available in the market to scale data platforms effectively and efficiently. As an example, your team will drive the improvements to our data warehouse strategy

  • Business Analytics: You and your team will be responsible for enabling other teams e.g., Business Intelligence team to drive utilization of data and analytics to drive critical business decisions. In the same vein, your team will own A/B testing framework and tools. Stakeholders will include engineers, business analysts, sales teams, finance, etc.

  • Data Science and Modeling: You and your team will partner with the data science team to develop the most efficient way to drive customer value through predictive modeling. Your team will build the machine learning, experimentation and human labeling platforms that power machine learning and AI across the company.

  • Data Privacy and Governance: You must have heard of GDPR! Your goal will be to scale our business and get the most value from our data while making sure we are always doing it in the most ethical fashion. Keeping user’s data private is a core ethos at Indeed and you will be at the forefront of that effort.

  • Cloud Transformation: Evolving Indeed’s data strategy, including public cloud offerings, will be a focal point of this role. You will be instrumental in creating a compelling vision of the future state, evaluating on-premise and cloud alternatives, making buy versus build decisions, and working with the team to execute on the vision.

  • Data Partnerships: And last but not the least, you will be responsible for collaborating with several teams, e.g., our strategic partnerships team, to make sure Indeed has the freshest, cleanest data in our industry. An example of such a partnership - D&B data on companies. Creativity and collaboration are your best friends here!

About you.
