The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentives, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.


Remote AMERICAS/EMEA/APAC Base Salary Range: 138,000-174,000 USD per year

We are looking for a Staff Engineer who's passionate about building innovative products that scale to a rapidly growing business.  Indeed technology is built in a rich development ecosystem with short release cycles. Every week sees the new release of multiple products that meet the growing needs of hundreds of thousands of customers around the world.

As part of a newly-forming team, you will help lead the development of platform services and front-end user journeys spanning cart, checkout, subscription management, and order fulfillment for customers.  We are a data-driven organization that leverages customer feedback and behaviors to develop solutions to the right problems.  Our journey is just beginning and we have a number of interesting problems to solve.  If partnering to define new solutions that have a clear and measurable impact on your customer is something you enjoy, this is where you will be your best.

You will provide technical and architectural leadership for the team, mentor others, help shape technical requirements and solutions, establish technical roadmaps, and facilitate integrations with internal and external systems. It is expected that you are a technical leader who is able to operate in a high performing team, that you can balance high quality delivery with customer focus to meet business needs, that you have excellent communication skills, and that you have a record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment. You will need to balance time between the design and architecture of systems, helping grow future technical leaders, and hands-on implementation work.


About you.

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience programming with at least one of the following languages: java, js, c#,  or python

  • 7+ years of experience developing backend API’s

  • 7+ years of experience with datastores such as: MySQL, Postgresql, Mongo, or similar long-term stores

  • 3+ years of experience developing single-page application web experiences

  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or other technical related degrees

  • Mentorship and development of other engineers

  • Experience conducting and leading code reviews

  • Significant experience with large scale, high-performance systems

  • Impacting a product or project in a tangible, positive manner

Desired skills

  • Experience creating billing, checkout, or order management solutions

  • Working knowledge of service-oriented and event-driven system architectures

  • WCAG compliant applications

  • Front-end technologies and frameworks

  • Strong knowledge of ReST, GraphQL, RPC, and JSON

  • Demonstrated use of Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or other messaging frameworks

  • Working knowledge of one or more cloud based environments (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)

  • Experience with using agile methodologies for software development
