Our designers work in Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, Tokyo and Hyderabad, collaborating with Product Managers and Engineering to deliver simple solutions to the real-world problems that job seekers and employers face hiring and getting hired. Most importantly, our team is expected to deliver results, and be able to demonstrate the impact our changes have on our business.
Austin Base Salary Range: 141,000 - 181,000 USD per year

As the User Experience Design Manager, you will manage designers who are focused on creating effective, low-effort, product+service solutions for employers across a range of company sizes (small, medium, large, and enterprise businesses), roles (hiring manager, talent acquisition, human resources, etc.), and team sizes. The goal is to make complex hiring scenarios be perceived and experienced as low-effort by the user.
You and your team will collaborate with stakeholders to make it easy for small-to-large employer teams to understand, navigate, and complete tasks such as onboarding their jobs, managing their team, evaluating applications, interviewing candidates, and reporting on their account’s performance. You will guide your team to deliver high-quality web and email product experiences while considering the deep service layer provided to our clients by our sales reps and recruiters.

Refine the employer workflow experience
Ship iterative improvements through validated testing that enhance the employer experience for small, large, and enterprise user types.
In partnership with Research, keep the voice of the customer at the forefront of the work with a regular cadence of qualitative and quantitative research.
Collaborate with Product team members to understand business impact and measure progress.
Foster collaboration across disciplines, including Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, Design Technology, UX Research, UX Writing, and Product Science.
Participate in and deepen segmentation efforts to better understand employer archetypes and behaviors to inform solutions and marketing.
Collaborate effectively with other Product and UX teams to identify and build on touch points that support employer workflows.
Envision future product solutions for employers
Lead your team in close partnership with Product, Research, and Recruiting to discover, design, and validate solutions to real customer problems.
Collaborate closely with UX and Product leadership to build vision work that turns future solutions into reality.
Support efforts by our Behavioral Scientist to improve the client’s perception and experience of candidate evaluation and job optimization workflows.
Lead discovery and opportunity validation efforts for large company and enterprise clients to inform future roadmaps.
Assist with maintaining awareness and collaboration between Indeed Hire UX and the Indeed SMB and Enterprise teams.
Own UX for major web applications and related emails for the employer workflow from job onboarding to candidate offer.
Grow and develop a UX team
Effectively attract, hire, onboard, and retain a UX team to keep pace with business needs in the employer workflow space.
Demonstrate the business and user value of UX to stakeholders.
Mentor and inspire your team to create high-quality UI/UX product experiences in web app, mobile, and email touch points.
Share collaboratively across the larger UX organization as you and your team improve methods, frameworks, and guides that may help teams design and validate better, more cohesive product experiences.
6+ years of direct product design experience with an accompanying portfolio.
4+ years of shipping product experiences.
3+ years of experience leading and managing a UX team.
Experience working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with a rigorous focus on speed to ship and being data-driven, while balancing the delivery of quality.
Relentless attention to detail and experience establishing measurable quality benchmarks for product UI/UX work.
Experience with or applied knowledge of behavioral psychology principles in UX work.
Experience with service design methodologies and experimentation.
Experience building, testing, and evolving a design system.
Experience of applying generative and evaluative UX research to product work, or experience working well with a dedicated researcher or research team.
Ability to collaborate flawlessly with multiple teams and functions, including Design, Research, Product, Engineering, Content, and Marketing.
Flexibility to be a player/coach as we scale up and deploy resources into new product teams.
Growth mindset and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Bachelor Degree Required, a degree in Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, Graphic Design, or a related design discipline, or equivalent experience.
