We are looking for an experienced design manager to join our growing, multidisciplinary team focusing on Indeed’s job seeker application experience. Candidates must have strong visual and interaction skills and the ability to help shape product strategy. The role combines growing and managing a team with hands-on design.
Indeed Apply is a product that makes online job applications easy: We don’t require anyone to fill out long forms or create a new account in order to apply to a single job. Indeed Apply powers many job applications on indeed.com, and also integrates with other job search sites. Indeed Apply has made applying easy, but we still have more work to do. We would like to improve experiences across devices, guide candidates to create a great applications, and modernize our UIs.
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentive Plan units, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
Tokyo Base Salary Range: 14,650,000 - 18,450,000 JPY per year
Manage a multi-national team of designers.
Guide the team to develop best practices for ensuring a high bar of quality.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, user research and content strategy to ensure a smooth product development process.
Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity and change during a project.
We need a highly experienced and capable design manager in our growing Tokyo office who will foster cross-team, cross-location collaboration while maintaining high bar for quality and velocity of experimentation. The ideal candidate has experience working with global brands and can demonstrate design achievements from problem assessment through the business impact. We are looking for someone who has partnered or led strategy development and has a good amount of business acumen. Design talent and impeccable customer-centric, data-informed execution is equally important. Our multi-national team in Tokyo is united in the universal mission of helping everyone get jobs. The design manager will be a key player in achieving our goals.
5+ years of experience as a ux designer, information architect, ux researcher, or similar.
2+ years of experience managing a small team of product designers.
A portfolio of work demonstrating experience creating design solutions and showing your ability to turn ideas into impactful business results.
Experience leading design for a variety of form factors, including mobile and desktop.
Experience leading and delivering on full-life-cycle design projects--from design strategy through execution.
Relentless desire for innovation, tempered by business needs and customer expectations.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, storytelling, and analytical skills, including the ability to present design concepts clearly and persuasively to colleagues, partners, stakeholders, and senior executives.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (UX/Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, Graphic Design, or similar degrees preferred).
