We are a rapidly-growing, fast-moving, highly-capable UX team building the most popular job site on the planet. Our designers work in Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, Tokyo and Hyderabad, collaborating with Product Managers and Engineering to deliver simple solutions to the real-world problems that job seekers and employers face hiring and getting hired. Most importantly, our team is expected to deliver results, and be able to demonstrate the impact our changes have on our business.

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Long Term Incentive Plan units, an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits. 

San Francisco Bay Area Base Salary Range: 106,000 - 130,000 USD per year

Your job.

Brand Systems is an interdisciplinary mix of interaction, visual designers, animators, strategists and copywriters focused on building the core brand identity across our product experience.

As our Story Producer, you’ll be the primary writer for our industry publication, Design at Indeed. You’ll report on all the amazing creative work taking place across our worldwide offices as well as provide insight into design-related topics in the industry at large. In partnership with our Editor, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the site as it grows into a full design toolkit and showcase for our brand identity.

You’ll be collaborating with cross-functional teams from UX, Product, Marketing, Corporate Communications to bring these stories to life. To be successful in this role, you will need to have strong interpersonal communication skills so that you can best represent the interviewee and capture their story accurately. 

The stories you produce will not only share our experience with the larger design community, but spark ongoing conversations about design and inspire readers to find out more.


  • Write, revise, and edit blog articles celebrating design, brand, and UX for our industry publication,

  • Pitch story ideas and packages that define the editorial calendar and the direction of the publication.

  • Partner with designers, writers, researchers, and leadership to co-author and edit articles.

  • Cultivate and interview internal and external sources.

  • Produce stories about Indeed users, broad design topics, and industry trends outside of Indeed.

  • Help define how the platform will expand its presence in the design community through new mediums, events, physical products, and other avenues.

  • Develop and implement content promotion plans.

  • Work with partners and stakeholders from across the company, including coworkers in UX, Product, Marketing, Legal, Corporate Communications and Engineering.

  • Ensure that content follows brand and style guidelines as well as legal and accessibility standards.

  • Advocate for design culture and quality writing within our organization and the company as a whole.

  • Attend conferences to report on and share insight with the design community.

  • Contribute copywriting and copyediting to the wide range of other projects our team supports, including voice and tone guidelines, design system documentation, user interface copy, and internal communications.

  • Write internal newsletter content and support other Brand System team writing projects.

  • NOTE: Travel will be required for this role.

About you.

You’ll have experience in crafting editorial stories for publications and/or world-class marketing firms.

  • BA in English, journalism, advertising, marketing, or other relevant field or equivalent education and experience.

  • 3 or more years of editorial or journalism experience.

  • Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Able to fit a complex idea into a handful of words.

  • Passion for working with designers, ability to speak their language and represent their voice through writing.

  • Practiced persuader who can back up their proposals with sound reasoning and represent their thinking with conviction.

  • Understanding of design principles, web writing best practices, and how content fits into the user experience.

  • Experience collaborating in a corporate setting with designers and product managers.

  • Experience with style guides, web standards, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and deliverables with little oversight.

  • Nice to have: experience with social media management, short-form filmmaking, photography.
